so this is cinderella

so i had the plan for the last few months that this year i would be happy with just buying a costume at the disney store and calling it good for my girl. then somehow i got the idea that i really should make her costumes for as long as she will let me. she already has princess dresses from the store that she plays with and halloween should be more special than everyday. so i thought and thought about making a cinderella dress and came to the conclusion that it would never look right if i tried to copy a storebought dress so i needed to make it look like i didn't try to copy anything. i thought some more and looked on etsy for ideas, then boom! i realized i wanted to make a dress that felt like cinderella felt when she was adorned by her fairy godmother. i imagined it must have felt incredibly comfortable, but completely elegant. the skirt had to be fuller than any other at the ball, but light as air. and of course cinderella had to be able to dance to her hearts desire without being confined by a tight or stiff bodice. and there you have it. the dress is two pieces- for the bodice i used lots of skills i learned from my days of working for walkers altering wedding gowns, and the skirt is just a tutu that i made floor length. it was adorable to see the transformation of my little princess. she swayed and danced all night. she acted as if it was a dream until the clock struck 8 and she had to go to bed. then she was back to being a three year-old... but it was worth all the effort just to see how much she loved it!

It was TOTALLY worth it! And brilliant. She looks completely transformed, but still like Macy, if Macy was a 'real" princess. Off-the-charts adorable.

You're so talented and Macy is so cute! I wish I could hire you to make my dance costumes for my girls, or at least take some lessons from you.
