oatmeal bread

nothing warms a house like homemade bread. i have decided it is the best air freshener you can have. lately i have been making this recipe at least once a week. i got the original recipe from a friend when i was in california, but have made it work with what i usually have on hand. it smells so delicious, is so moist and heavenly, we just can't get enough of it!
Oatmeal Bread
1/4c. butter
1/4c. honey
1/2c. brown sugar
2c. oats
2tsp. salt
1c. boiling water
1c. cold water
1TBSP yeast
1/4c. warm water
4 1/2-5c. flour (i love using half white half wheat)
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Combine butter, honey, brown sugar, oatmeal, salt, and boiling water. Stir until butter has melted. Add cold water. Mix in 1c. flour well. Then add yeast mixture. Mix well. Slowly add rest of flour until dough pulls from sides of bowl. Knead until soft but not sticky. Allow to rise until double, about an hour. Divide into 2 loaf pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 375 for 5 min. Then lower to 350 for about an hour. Brush tops with butter after you take them out of the oven.

Ohh, how I love homemade bread! I have a similar recipe that I'm making about twice a month.

Really I can think of few things better than a hot loaf of homemade bread, fresh from the oven.

Is this the yummy bread you brought over the other day? If so, I'm going to have to make it!
